Sandcastles & Stories

Hello! Lots going on...here is some fun stuff for now!

The winding walkway that leads to the entry building is coming to life! The three-story sandcastle took shape this week.
We also paved the walkway and placed storyboard signs along the route with messages from Mumbo Bumbo Jumbo, the zany German explorer who traveled the rivers of the world and brought a collection of findings to the island at Schlitterbahn Vacation Village Waterpark. Watch soon for more on Mumbo Bumbo Jumbo!

Have a great day!

  3. We are getting VERY close. We have not announced the opening date due to ongoing construction. The most up-to-date information is always available at schlitterbahn.com.

  4. Care to share in your opinion how much of the construction is left to complete? 25% left perhaps?

Or maybe please share what major items are left to complete?

It's frustrating when driving by the park everyday and seeing only mounds of dirt. These pictures help boost confidence that the park will be open this summer!

  5. The park will open soon, that's about all I can tell you for now. As with any construction project, we are taking it day by day and working 7 days a week to make this happen for you! It won't be long!
Please keep in mind that we are opening a 24-acre waterpark this year on a 360-acre site. Much of the 360 acres is groomed for the construction of the rest of the Schlitterbahn Vacation Village resort, which includes shopping, dining, lodging, indoor waterpark, more outdoor waterpark and other entertainment. Construction on the rest of the resort continues over the next few years after the waterpark opens this summer. Please do not associate the piles of dirt you see with the waterpark that is actually opening this year. Much of the land you see is part of the expansion area, not the 2009 waterpark. I hope that helps!

  6. Things are really starting to look great. And I appreciate that there seems to be some kind of backstory to the park. I'm looking forward to hearing more about Mumbo, Bumbo and Jumbo.

  7. We drove by it today, saw you had graded the parking lot for paving, and the electrical was in place, so looks like you are really getting there.

Did not want to get in trouble by walking up to the construction site, but was really tempted, lol.

I will be there the opening weekend, and am planning on bringing out of town guests also at the end of July.

Also trying to convince co-workers to go with me, think it will not be to hard as hot as it is today(the pool in our subdivision is full).

Count my wife and I in as initial season ticket purchasers.

  8. We appreciate all of your support and patience as we prepare the park for opening in the weeks to come. Thank you for understanding that construction is a living and breathing process. There is growth each day and there are set backs from time to time. We are excited to introduce the park to you very soon! Please hang in there with us!

  9. Well, i work in the construction industry, and i know how it goes.

Also, i would rather have something done right, that quickly, and have bad quality.

Take as long as you need, BUT HURRY lol.

  12. Any additional word? I know the recent rain has not helped, but i think i have convinced our whole department to go one weekend as a group thing. You know, that team building thing stuff like CEO's do to Bermuda, but on a much smaller scale.

  13. What is the ACE club that gets a sneak peak and how do I become a member? =) I just cleared a day of tentative vacation with my boss to be there on opening day if it falls on a weekday. I am so excited!!! Can't wait to hear when opening is. Hoping it's next week since I heard your new employees have orientation tomorrow.

  14. Any further word on an opening date? i figure, if you did an open house for ACE then it may be getting close.

And from a purely geek standpoint, how much water will the park hold, and how are you gonna fill it up?

Will the rest of Wyandotte County have to go without water for a day while you do that?(joke)
